About Neptune BioInnovation Centre

Based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, NeptuneBio is Canada’s first large-scale bio-innovation centre, providing the infrastructure and collaboration companies need to scale manufacturing of climate-positive bio-based products.

Our Purpose

To support scale-up of biomanufacturing in Canada while driving economic growth, global competitiveness and sustainable development.

Address Canada’s Biomanufacturing Infrastructure Gap

NeptuneBio exists to help industrial biotechnology companies grow. We provide the industrial‑scale fermentation, downstream processing, and finishing infrastructure innovators need to move from pilot to production — enabling them to scale safely, quickly, and confidently without leaving Canada.

Drive Economic Development in Atlantic Canada

NeptuneBio was spearheaded by Nova Scotia to position Atlantic Canada as a hub for industrial biotechnology. By anchoring advanced manufacturing in the region, we create local jobs, attract investment, and provide training opportunities that build the skilled workforce needed for the bioeconomy.

Supply Domestic and International Markets

NeptuneBio helps Canadian biomanufacturing and biotech companies scale production to meet demand at home and abroad. By supporting supply into both domestic and international markets, we strengthen Canada’s trade resilience and ensure climate‑positive innovations can reach global customers.

Support Climate Resilience and Net Zero Targets

By enabling the scale‑up of bio‑based, climate‑positive products, NeptuneBio helps reduce GHG emissions, replace carbon‑intensive processes, and build resilience in food, feed, and materials supply chains — advancing Canada’s path to net zero.
